The civil war, in the United States, was just not caused by differences of opinions, of humans, but was instigated by the ETs, to strengthen the genetic genes, and curtail the genetic drift, of the human population.

This would make their genetic programs aboard Motherships easier.

The Civil War was a genetic cleansing, for the work of the ETs, in building new races, from human genes, mixed with other races. At the same time, it would cull those not of strong fighting spirit, and allow them, to know, who to send in battles they wanted them to do, to build or repair their power bases.
